There could not have been a more beautiful or profound opening to the 2025 Leyenda Convention than the concert given by Daniel Valentin Marx. From the very first note, Daniel reminded us why we gather—to listen, to feel, to be transformed. His performance was not only a display of breathtaking technique and nuance, but a deeply human experience that set the tone for everything to follow. Adding to the historic nature of the evening, Daniel performed on a 1925 Viennese model Hauser I guitar—likely the first time such an instrument has ever graced the stage of Petree Recital Hall. The clarity, warmth, and resonance of the Hauser, in Daniel’s hands, was nothing short of magical. A laureate of over a dozen international competitions, Daniel Marx has performed across five continents, recorded for NAXOS and GENUIN classics, and worked with such luminaries as Pepe Romero and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. He currently serves as guitar lecturer at UTE Thurgau (Switzerland) and visiting professor at the Conservatorio “Nino Rota” in Monopoli, Italy. We are deeply grateful to Daniel for opening the Leyenda Convention with such grace, generosity, and brilliance. It was a night we will never forget.
